The PVC "Clean Box"
(Designed for Easy Storage and Travel)

One of the problems faced as a hobby tissue culturist is "where to store all our supplies".  The clean box that I typically use is a plastic recycle box which takes up a lot of space and does not travel well to workshops.  My daughter suggested using PVC pipe as the structure and then draping a plastic bag over the whole thing.

It works great and fits into my luggage so it is handy for doing workshops.  The cost is about the same but the storage space required is much less, and this is very important to teachers who might do this for a few weeks in class and then have no place to store the box for the rest of the year.

Here are our simplistic instructions:

This is made up of 1/2 inch PVC pipe, 6 clips, 2 90-degree pipe angles and 6 3-way angles.  One standard plastic bag, preferably clear or light colored is placed over the structure.

Note: you can also use the super large alligator clips for office use instead of these pVC white clips

The 90-degree angle can be purchsed at the home improvement store along with the PVC pipe.  I have the pipe cut into three 20-inch pieces and eight 15-inch pieces.

The structure is assembled as shown and then the plastic is cut open to measure 36 inches by 55-60 inches.  This is draped over the structure and the clips are placed as shown to hold the plastic in place.

The new PVC cleanbox is ready for use.
